And You Thought We Just Served Tea

Established in 1912, the Wenham Tea House is one of the oldest Tea Houses in the country. The Wenham Tea House is owned by the Wenham Village Improvement Society, a philanthropic organization which turns profits back to the community through scholarships, summer programs, and other philanthropies. The Tea House is operated by Christopher Keohane from Danvers, Massachusetts.

The year was 1893, Queen Victoria was still on the throne of England and Grover Cleveland occupied the White House. It was in this year that a small group of spirited women met and formed the Wenham Village Improvement Society. Its original purpose, to contribute to the welfare of the town's people, has continued through more than one hundred years of private effort.

The Wenham Tea House continues the traditions of delicious food, quality tea, gracious hospitality and the community involvement lives on. The Wenham Tea House has played an integral part in "downtown" Wenham, joining Town Hall, the Wenham Museum and the First Church of Wenham as a cornerstone of the town square.

The annual profits from the Wenham Tea House have been used to reinvest in the business and provide funds for the WVIS to contribute to the life of the community by making gifts to local organizations including Wenham Museum, the joint library, Acord food pantry, the local schools and the local schools. The WVIS annually provides college scholarships, the summer park program, and maintains town tennis courts and the Tea House Playground. From the stewardship of its members, the Society has made our town a wonderful place to live and raise our families.

Just recently, the Wenham Tea House was being led into a new direction by another long-established business, Henry's Fine Foods, Inc. of Beverly, Massachusetts. Under the direct supervision of the Keohane family (the owners of Henry's), the Wenham Tea House operated as "The Wenham Tea House featuring Henry's Fine Foods".

The Wenham Tea House, under this new direction, offered an elegant yet traditional dining experience. They also offered a delicious breakfast assortment, interesting lunch ideas, traditional afternoon teas and excellent weekend brunches.

The Wenham Tea House featuring Henry's Fine Foods also offered a wide range of unique and interesting catering events for your next outing. Be it a bridal shower, birthday party or bachelorette tea party, the Wenham Tea house offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that is sure to impress your guests. Our professional catering staff will not only indulge your palette, but impress your eyes with eye-catching presentations.

An outdoor patio was planned and built adjoining Tea House, so guests can visit and enjoy tea in an outdoor setting.

Nowadays, the Wenham Tea House is operated by owners Christopher Keohane, Jason Keohane and Peter Capalbo of Fresh Food Catering. In addition the Tea House, Fresh Food also operates the Fresh Food Cafe in Lynnfield.

Fresh Food Catering continues to honor the traditions of the former successors and will continue on the elegant and welcoming experience that has made the Wenham Tea House successful for over one hundred years.
